Job Details and Description

Description: Chair and conduct Studentsí Council meetings in accordance with Robertís Rules of Order, and the Standing Orders of Studentsí Council. Work with SU administrative unites to ensure that administrative and logistical needs of Studentsí Council are met.

Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Sit as a non-voting member of Studentsí Council (does not have the authority to propose motions to Studentsí Council).
2. Chair meetings of Studentsí Council and conduct the meetings in accordance with Robertís Rules of Order, and the Standing Orders of Studentsí Council.
3. Work with Discover Governance to look after the budget and logistical needs of Studentsí Council.
4. Request a report from the University of Alberta Office of the Registrar and Student Awards each term to confirm that all individuals occupying positions requiring them to be undergraduate students meet all requirements set out in Studentsí Union bylaw.
5. Represent Studentsí Council before the Discipline, Interpretation and Enforcement Board.
6. Assist in planning orientation sessions and retreats for Studentsí Council when necessary.
7. Serve as a resource to members of Studentsí Council, and provide timely responses to questions from members regarding Studentsí Council matters.
8. Perform other duties as may be required by Studentsí Council or Studentsí Union bylaw from time to time.
Qualifications: 1. Must be able to work at all Studentsí Council meetings.
2. Must be able to respond to questions and concerns in a timely manner.
3. Familiarity with Robertís Rules of Order and the Standing Orders of Studentsí Council would be considered an asset.
4. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
